I have been using this for 2 months for anxiety & insomnia (in conjunction w/ other lifestyle changes, of course). I wear a FitBit to sleep every night and can honestly say that there is a noticeable difference in my resting heart rate when I drink this compared to when I do not drink it. I consume 1/2 tsp about 1 hr before bed. I used to mix this with warm almond milk and sometimes a bit of honey but now I just mix into hot water. The taste was difficult at first but it didn't take long to get used to and now I look forward to it. Earthy & pleasant.
Blends well into morning smoothies.
I wanted to try ashwaganda as it has so many health benefits and I went with a powder version to add to smoothies, etc. Unfortunately, it's really really bitter. So much so, that I cannot add more than the teeniest pinch to anything without it ruining the taste. I am able to eat pretty much anything, and am not super sensitive, so I do think it's really that bitter. Unfortunately, I can't really review it's effect on my overall health b/c I am not using it. I'd recommend sticking to the capsules if you can find them.
