The Bath 101

The baptism begins. Bathe yourself in holy water and be born again. Baths have long been used for purification, detoxication and mineralization. Not to mention a blissful time out. Especially during the cold winter months.

A true act of self-love, bathing nourishes the body, mind and spirit. Salt baths (Epsom and Dead Sea Salts are among our favorites) infuse the body with Magnesium and other vital minerals soothing sore muscles, encouraging better sleep and fighting inflammation. We’re also big fans of Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath. This health food store staple and CAP Beauty favorite heats you up to purge the body of toxins. Dr. Singha believed that there are four steps to true radiant beauty: ingestion, digestion, assimilation and elimination. He thought that the most important step was elimination. This bath promotes elimination by alkalizing the body and neutralizing acidic waste. Let the bathing begin.

MUSTARD BATH RITUAL

Burn your Palo Santo and set the stage for a perfect soak. Fill your tub with hot water and visualize it healing your body. Add two ounces of Mustard Bath and swirl it around in a figure eight motion allowing it to reach all corners of the tub. Gently lower yourself into the bath. Stay in the tub for 20 minutes. You will probably start sweating as the mustard is warming to the system and will heat you up causing you to sweat. It’s nice to keep a glass of purified water next to you to sip on while you’re soaking to hydrate. Take a quick, coolish shower and rub yourself down with a dry, rough towel. We like to wrap ourselves up in an extra sheet before getting in bed as you could continue to sweat through the night. Now get in bed and feel the effects of the heat. Take the sheet off when you are warm. Embrace the sweat. It’s good for you.

Mustard Bath may be used up to 3 times per week. Listen to your body. If detox effects are too much just take a hot bath or salt bath.

SALT BATH RITUAL

Burn your Palo Santo and prepare for your soak. Fill the tub with hot water and visualize it healing your body. Add your salts to the bath, we like a cup to two cups of Epsom Salts. Swirl the salts around the tub allowing them to reach every corner of the tub. Step into the tub and slowly lower yourself into the water.

Lay back and relax for 10-20 minutes while listening to a guided meditation. It’s nice to keep a glass of purified water next to you to sip on while you’re soaking to hydrate. When you feel thoroughly relaxed, exit the bath and wrap yourself up in a thick towel. Now go rest and take in the transformative and healing properties of the salt.
